What’s the Benefit

  • The chatbot was introduced to enhance the student support system—not to replace creative roles or diminish human interaction—but to help student services employees work more effectively.

  • It allows Missouri S&T staff to support students more effectively by efficiently identifying those in need and providing timely, personalized support.

How to Get Connected

What to Expect

When opted in, you will be contacted periodically with new information or questions about your S&T experience. Simultaneously, you will be connected with tips, resources, and services.

  • The chatbot helps S&T center the student voice in decision-making.
  • Information you choose to share is used to make informed decisions that can enhance your overall university experience.

Data Privacy and Security:

  • Student data privacy is a top priority and the chatbot follows FERPA privacy policies.
  • The chatbot operates under strict data protection guidelines.
  • Students can opt out of the service anytime by replying “STOP.”

Staff Involvement

To ensure connection to resources and campus safety, staff from Student Well-Being and University Police may be contacted by the Joe Miner ChatBot if it receives information that indicates concern of harm to self or others. In these cases, staff will reach out to ensure your safety.

You may be contacted by staff once in a while throughout the semester if there are resources available to support you that Joe Miner ChatBot is unable to provide.
