Well-Being Ambassadors are students trained to support their own well-being and the mental health and well-being of fellow students. This is a highly encouraged training series for all students on campus, especially students in leadership roles. Well-Being Ambassador Training is a workshop developed by the Student Well-Being department that prepares participants with the knowledge and skills needed to be confident in providing effective support. The workshop includes a 1.5 hour in-person training and a 20-minute online training known as the Ask.Listen.Refer suicide prevention training.

Student Well-Being has a network of Peer Educators who facilitate wellness presentations and health promotion events on campus. Our team of Peer Educators is called Joe’s PEERS. It is a student leadership organization that promotes health and wellness by providing education, encouragement, and resources to Missouri S&T students.

Every summer and winter break, Student Well-Being offers multiple open sessions of the University of Missouri System-licensed program called RESPOND to train faculty and staff to recognize and provide initial assistance to people with mental health concerns. Participants will learn to recognize when someone may be struggling or in distress, increase their awareness of mental health resources, and help prevent suicide. This training is open to all faculty and staff.

Student Well-Being provides presentations, trainings, and workshops to organizations, classes, and other groups that request them. Requests can also be made for department presence, such as for a discussion panel, event, meeting, etc.
