Our counselors and their direct support staff maintain strict confidentiality and are legally and ethically required to protect your privacy. Counseling staff are not mandated reporters and are not required to report information related to a Title IX or Equity policy violation. To learn more about mandated reporters, visit the Title IX website.
If you would like us to share information with another person or provider, such as a professor, parent, or physician, we must receive your written permission before doing so.
Exceptions to Confidentiality
There are limited circumstances in which confidentiality may be broken, including:
- When there is a concern that you may harm yourself or someone else
- When abuse or neglect of a child or vulnerable adult is suspected
- When disclosure is otherwise required by law
Other Student Well-Being services: Not all Student Well-Being services are confidential. Staff members who are not counselors, such as case managers and health educators, are mandated reporters and may be required to report information related to Title IX or Equity policy violations.
