- Demonstrate an unexpected financial emergency that could affect your ability to continue your education.
- Show that you have explored other available financial resources and assistance.
- Have exhausted other financial aid options, as determined by the Office of Student Financial Assistance.
- Submit a completed Student Emergency Fund application.
- Provide documentation of an unexpected, urgent expense that was not the result of negligent actions.
The Student Emergency Fund (SEF) helps Missouri S&T students overcome unexpected financial emergencies that could disrupt their education. Made possible through the generosity of donors and administered by the Division of Student Success, the fund provides support for critical, basic needs so students can stay on track toward earning their degree.
- Funding is limited and awarded based on availability.
- Assistance is limited to one award of up to $300 per student.
- Funds must be used to address an immediate, basic need.
- Financial assistance is paid directly to the vendor or service provider, not to the student.
- Other financial resources must be explored before applying.
- Submitting an application does not guarantee funding.
- Awards are based on eligibility, supporting documentation and available funding.
- Students who receive assistance are encouraged to give back to the fund in the future, if they are able.
**International students should be aware that receiving financial assistance may affect their immigration status and are encouraged to consult an immigration attorney before applying.

The SEF is sustained by contributions from faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents and friends of the university. Every gift helps ensure students have access to support when they need it most.
Ways to give:
- Missouri S&T employees: Make a tax-deductible contribution through payroll deduction by completing the online payroll deduction form. For questions, contact Advancement Services at 573-341-4944.
- One-time donations: Visit S&T Giving and select Student Emergency Fund under Designation > Initiatives.
